Wendover and Universal break ground on Catchlight Crossings

by | Nov 2, 2023

Today, we celebrated as Wendover Housing Partners broke ground on Catchlight Crossings, a visionary affordable housing project set on 20 acres of land donated by Universal. This 1,000-unit mixed-use community will bring affordable and workforce housing right to the heart of the action, next door to Universal Studios. But it’s more than just housing – it’s a comprehensive community.

Catchlight Crossings will be home to the Bezos Academy preschool, educational partnerships with the University of Central Florida, on-site medical facilities, retail spaces, and community event areas. Residents will enjoy resort-style pools, technology cafes, fitness centers, and so much more.

What’s more, the transportation center will make it easier for residents to reach area employers and will be conveniently located near the proposed Sunshine Corridor, connecting thousands of workers to key destinations. “In hundreds of ways, in each and every day, communities like Catchlight Crossings will mean greater opportunity and stability,” said Jonathan Wolf, founder and CEO of Wendover Housing Partners “Ultimately, we’re building more than homes, we’re building a better life for an entire community.” For this project, BDG Architects is the Architect of Record and Beyer Blinder Belle is the Master Planner and Design Architect that will assist in bringing this extravagant idea to life.
