Two Tampa Bay hotels were named to Condé Nast Traveler’s 2017 Reader’s Choice Awards for Top Hotels in Florida.
The Epicurean Hotel in Tampa’s tony Hyde Park historic district secured the No. 4 spot in on the list, making it the only hotel in the Tampa Bay area to be listed in the top 10.
But the 72-room Kimpton Hotel Zamora on St. Pete Beach came in 12th. When the Zamora opened it in 2014, it was the first new hotel to open on St. Pete Beach in 20 years. The property also offers a rooftop lounge, a Mediterranean restaurant known as Castile and 9,000 square feet of event space.
“Thanks to a tremendous amount of hard work and a growing number of loyal guests, I’m proud to say the Epicurean is no stranger to this list,” said Kevin Scott, general manager of the Epicurean Hotel, which has been on the list’s top 10 since 2014.
The category is separate from Condé Nast Traveler’s 2017 Reader’s Choice Awards for top resorts in Florida. In that group, both the 253-room Sandpearl Resort and the 230-room Opal Sands Resort were ranked No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. The Resort at Longboat Key in Sarasota is in the No. 5 spot.
For the top Florida hotels, Condé Nast Traveler determined its selections using a questionnaire that focused on such categories as rooms, service, location, food/dining, design, activities/facilities and value.
The food-focused Epicurean Hotel features a state-of-the-art culinary classroom known as the Epicurean Theatre and much more. The hotel was developed in collaboration with Mainsail Lodging & Development and Bern’s Steak House. It is part of the Autograph Collection for Marriott International Inc. (NYSE: MAR).
