The St. Pete Pier is making progress and hitting milestones. All the pilings are placed, decks are poured and construction activity is now turning to go above the deck building, according to an article in the Tampa Bay Business Journal . Which means we are that much closer to seeing BDG Architects' designs for "Teak" restaurant, "Pier Teaki" rooftop bar, and "Driftwood" cafe come to life.
Teak will be a “sit down” restaurant and bar with bay and city views to connect the interior with the exterior and an open kitchen to heighten customer experience. Driftwood Cafe is a small food service installation with a walk-up seating area or the option of “grab-n-go” for customers. Pier Teaki is an open air rooftop bar to be located on the top level of the pier building with a rooftop vista and observation area that is open to the public. The entire 26-acre Pier District is projected to open up to the public in 2020 and is expected to attract 1.7 million visitors annually.
