Fifth Third Bank announced Tuesday that it is opening its 42nd location in the Tampa Bay region.
The new banking center will be located at 4319 Gandy Blvd. in Tampa and is the first "next generation" Fifth Third branch to open in the region.
In a press release, the bank said the 2,400-square-foot branch's "next generation" features include mobile bankers using technology that allows them to meet and serve customers in a variety of settings; a tech wall with a dynamic digital screen; and flexible meeting and seating areas. The bank said it plans to open another next generation branch in Tampa sometime later this year.
Cary Putrino, North Florida regional president for Fifth Third, said the opening of the branch was a sign of the bank's commitment to the region.
"Banking centers are still very relevant to customers, yet they are being used differently than they have in previous generations," he said in a statement. "Today it’s about growing the relationship by delivering a holistic customer experience — digital and high-touch integration, blending perfectly to meet their needs.”
In an interview last month, Fifth Third CEO Greg Carmichael said the bank views Florida as an "investment opportunity" and that it was committed to growing in the region, despite the economic impact of Covid-19.
Fifth Third Bank (NASDAQ: FITB) is eighth-largest bank in the region with $3.93 billion in local deposits, according to the 2019 Book of Lists.
