Robertson Banking Company, one of the oldest banks in Alabama, has expanded its footprint in the Birmingham market beyond its downtown branch and opened its second location in Homewood. This new branch is their first free-standing location in Birmingham. BDG worked with the client to design a project that makes a statement by developing new brand standards that take the traditional bank branch look and incorporated more forward thinking resulting in a new, fresh design. Through the use of new materials BDG bridged the traditional look into a modern interpretation. The new branch is an approximately 3,000 SF full-service location for its clients with a two-lane drive thru as well as housing a commercial lender with room to grow in that area.

Demopolis-based Robertson Banking Co. opened a new branch at 2611 18th Place S. in Homewood last month, hiring a handful of employees with plans for more.
Whit Bird, Birmingham market city president for the company, said the branch opened its doors Jan. 26. Four new employees, including a commercial lender, branch manager and two universal bankers were hired to staff the new location. Bird said the new branch has room for four more hires as it grows.
“I have lived in Homewood for 20 years, and it has been my goal from the start for Robertson to have a branch in Homewood,” Bird said. “Once we finally found the right location that fit all our needs, we jumped at the chance.”
The roughly 3,100-square-foot location is a full-service branch with two drive-through lanes, a 24-hour ATM and a night drop box. The site of the branch used to be a self-service car wash. Robertson Banking Co. is leasing the property. Bird said it was a ground-up construction project handled by developer Mike Mouron.
Bird said Robertson Banking believes the new branch positions the company well for further growth in the metro area and provides a convenient location for customers in over-the-mountain neighborhoods.
Bird said the bank will consider expanding with more branch locations in the future but does not have any immediate plans.
