The 18-acre Rome Yard Development Project, a $300 million joint venture between the Tampa Housing Authority, the City of Tampa, and Related Urban Development Group includes adding 954 residential units to West Tampa within six years, 600 of which will be for workforce housing and affordable housing. The mixed-use redevelopment will also include a job training center, 30,000 SF of amenity spaces, over 17,000 SF of commercial space, a West Tampa Cultural Center & Art Pavilion, greenspaces and more as part of the revitalization of the West Tampa Neighborhood. The art and design will honor and showcase the history of the area as well as compliment their Boulevard at West River Project nearby. The development of Rome Yard will transform the city’s property into a mixed-use development with a mix of townhouses, apartments, shops, offices and commercial space. Once completed, the Rome Yard Development Project together with the Boulevard at West River Project will provide for affordable, sustainable, mixed income/mixed-use development and all associated infrastructure in one of Tampa’s historic downtown neighborhoods. BDG Architects provided conceptual design services for this exciting project.
