BDG renovated this existing single-story 1936 building in Miami to include a Chase Bank with two vestibule ATM’s to accommodate the lack of a drive-thru. Due to the building’s age, we encountered several structural issues during the design and construction and had to modify the roof structure, completely replace the existing slab, and reconstruct the interior columns with new footings.
Since it is located in the Wynwood Arts District, a neighborhood known for its vibrant murals, a custom art piece was commissioned for the building’s exterior. Collaborating with Goldman Global Arts, Chase Retail selected Miami-born local artist Johnny Robles, whose large scale paintings have been featured on buildings internationally. While some of his pieces feature bright, multicolored palettes, this one took a more minimal approach with a simple, modern blue design to tie in with Chase’s branding.
To provide a blank canvas for the artist, we resurfaced the building with a smooth finish to remove variations in the texture. We added a new front door and replaced all windows with anti-graffiti film to ensure our design stays true to the concept.
