The Boulevard at West River with Related Group was selected for the Downtown Collaboration Award at the Tampa Downtown Partnership’s Urban Excellence Awards. This annual event celebrates significant contributions towards creating a unique, vibrant, and diverse downtown environment.
220 Madison was honored with the Jan Abell Award of Outstanding Contribution to the Community in Historic Preservation at the Hillsborough County Planning Commission’s 38th Annual Planning & Design Awards. The judges praised the creative reuse of this long neglected office building and its service to students, a demographic that is often overlooked.
The Pinellas County Housing Authority was selected as recipient of an Award of Merit for our project Palms of Pinellas by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials during the NAHRO Online 2020 Summer Conference. Read more here.
BDG Architects’ food-focused Epicurean Hotel in Tampa’s trendy Hyde Park has been recognized yet again in the 18th Annual Traveler Choice Awards by TripAdvisor. It has received the award each year since its December 2013 opening, leading to its induction into Tripadvisor’s Hall of Fame. BDG Architects’ revamped website designed by Sparxoo received a Silver Addy at the American Advertising Awards. This event is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting nearly 30,000 entries every year in local AAF Ad Club competitions. Read more here.
Kennedy Retail was a finalist for the NAIOP Tampa Bay Best of the Best Awards for Best Retail Project of 2019. Originally built in the late 1960’s, the aging building was partially unoccupied and in need of a major renovation. The modern transformation splits the center into two buildings connected by a covered breezeway which created two new “In-Caps” and outdoor seating. The project also resulted in upgraded parking, lighting and landscaping.
Tampa Maid Foods was a finalist for the NAIOP Tampa Bay Best of the Best Awards for Best Office Project of 2019. BDG Architects designed a 14,500 SF expansion to an existing 134,000 SF production and distribution facility for this frozen food manufacturer in Lakeland, Florida.
Helios Education Foundation received the 2019 AIA Tampa Bay Merit Award for the Commercial Architecture Category. This office relocation to the Bank of America Plaza’s twentieth floor is designed with unique spatial and technical features to create a flexible environment for the client and its team.
Suffolk Construction received the 2019 Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Coolest Office Space Award. This national construction firm’s fourth Florida office located at Channelside Bay Plaza in Tampa features an innovative design that supports teamwork with a “collaboration corner” and open benching stations. A later expansion to this office added a brand-new “Smart Lab”, a technology-driven environment where their team can easily visualize all the data about a project and step into virtual reality simulations. Davidoff of Geneva was awarded the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Florida Central Chapter’s Interior Design Excellence Award for Best of Hospitality. BDG Architects worked closely with the Davidoff corporate team to design this cigar store and bar in an existing retail space in MetWest International in Tampa, Florida. The space utilizes over 5,000 square feet creating a unique experience for the customer in this climate controlled environment that maintains the quality of the store’s product.
myMatrixx received the 2017 Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Coolest Office Space Award. They were also recognized for Best Kitchen and Best View. This hospitality driven design created an energetic environment for the firm focusing on interactive collaborative spaces, open office work concept, private break-out meeting spaces, extensive café and employee food service area along with interactive activity spaces to stimulate creative ideas for the staff. The Birchwood was award the Best Rehab Project at the 2013 NAIOP Tampa Bay Best of the Best Awards. This 18 room boutique hotel is located on Beach Drive in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. The renovation included the design of a new restaurant, guest rooms, public spaces, ballrooms and the rooftop lounge all to enhance the new brand image of this modern urban infill project that respects the historic legacy of the building and neighborhood.
Epicurean Hotel was awarded the 2013 Award of Excellence for Urban Infill by the Hillsborough County Planning Commission. The hotel is a Marriott Autograph brand that features a wine shop, a culinary classroom, flexible meeting spaces, spa, bakery, restaurant space and a rooftop bar with views of the surrounding historic neighborhood.
Grand Central at Kennedy was awarded the 2011 Award of Excellence for Urban Infill by the Hillsborough County Planning Commission. This mixed-use development spans two city blocks in downtown Tampa’s Channel District and responds to the neighborhood’s unique pedestrian nature.
811 S. Boulevard Residence was awarded the 2010 Community Design Award of Merit by the Hillsborough County Planning Commission. This 5,167 SF single family residence located in Tampa’s Historic Hyde Park neighborhood was LEED Certified for its focus on green building.
Anderen Bank was awarded the 2009 Best Outstanding Green Building/Project Award at NAIOP Tampa Bay’s Best of the Best Awards. This 4,050 SF facility was the financial institution’s first retail branch within the city of Tampa and received LEED for New Construction Silver Certification for its focus on sustainability.
Greenwood Apartments was awarded the 2003 Fannie Mae Foundation’s Maxwell Award of Excellence. Originally built in 1959 and located in Clearwater, Florida, this renovation softened the brutal modernist aesthetic of the original design to better blend with the surrounding architectural styles of the neighborhood. Prior to renovation, the buildings had seen virtually no maintenance work for 40 years. Twenty-four of the original 200 two bedroom, one bathroom units were reconfigured to make 16 three bedroom, two bathroom apartments.
