BDG Architects has an opening for a Retail Architectural Designer, working from our national banking client’s headquarters located downtown Cincinnati, OH. In this position the team member will assume day to day responsibilities for the retail design program, coordinating with architectural firms and the project team to design and execute retail projects.
Roles and Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:
- Act as liaison to retail team to understand needs for retail locations. Work with architectural teams to guide design.
- Work with architectural partners to apply kit of parts for retail environments. Evaluate use of kit of parts elements and share development opportunities with Retail Design Lead.
- Work with property management team, disseminating standards for asset preservation projects.
- Act as a resource to property management team, providing design guidance for one-off requests as needed.
- Act as a resource to real estate transaction managers in deals, giving feasibility recommendations and advising on design possibilities
- Act as a resource to project management team members as branches are built
- Work with architectural partners to ensure the best and most on brand experience is provided for each project; review signage for “best foot forward”, approve experiential graphic design and art details, approve furniture packages, etc.
- Assume additional related responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Strong design sensibilities, seeing space as the context for a holistic human experience
- Strong understanding of human behavior in retail environments
- Ability to clearly communicate ideas and strategy, verbally and visually
- Natural collaborator, able to draw others along toward viable solutions
- Ability to work together with A+D firms is required
- Understanding of retail banking needs, history, and trends
- Sketching skills preferred
- Design or architecture degree (BS or BA) or equivalent experience required
- Retail design experience required
- Minimum six to eight (6 - 8) years experience is required
- Excellent organizational skills
- Self starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented
