Manatee Community College, now State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, selected FleischmanGarcia to design the new Stephen J. Korcheck Student Services Center which serves as the signature building at the main entry to the campus. The two-story, 30,000 sq. ft. facility incorporates the student admissions, records, registration, financial aid, counseling, and career development areas. It also houses the disabled student offices, student government, newspaper offices, a multi-purpose meeting room, conference room, private offices and a testing center.
A feature of the building is the light filled, central, two-story atrium which houses a floating monumental staircase with open balcony railings surrounding the atrium. The Korcheck Student Services Center has proven to be an important social meeting and gathering venue on the State College of Florida’s campus in addition to its student services function.
