BDG Architects designed The Florida Aquarium Channelview Pavilion Event Deck Canopy on 7,500 square feet of outdoor event space on the 4th floor roof overlooking the port. The steel truss canopy incorporates Tampa Electric Company (TECO) solar panels to showcase this evolving reusable energy technology as an integral part of the canopy’s design to support the Aquarium’s continuous learning environment. This new event space offers a variety of functions for Aquarium patrons as well as maximizing views of the port and the estuaries along the surrounding shorelines.
BDG Architects is proud to partner with downtown Tampa’s The Florida Aquarium to design the innovative 7,500 sf event deck canopy showcasing the potential of solar energy. In collaboration with TECO Energy, the curved canopy structure and solar panel array will provide new options for Aquarium events as well as integrating the story of the solar installation into their education programs.
